The internet you know now is controlled by companies. By adverts trying to get you to buy into a brand culture that the new generation is obssessed with. There is no possible way of ignoring this. Once you're aware, it's practically impossible to ignore the way Instagram is trying to curate your timeline to better fit their revenue needs. Every advert you see is catered towards you. But why should it be this way? Why can't you choose what to see? Simple answer: you can, and it's easier than you expect.
New social media caters to the algorithm it places you in. Machine-made timelines, with man-made ideals. Constantly getting you to interact, buy, like, or reply. These things shouldn't matter. In fact, they don't matter on Spacehey. Spacehey is a replica of the old Myspace, a website I'm sure many reading are familiar with. Spacehey evokes the same ideals of old. No algorithm, just you and your profile, accepting strangers' requests, and making friends the old-fashioned way. I encourage you all to delete Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, all of the new social media apps that just restrain you to a profile picture, a header, maybe a display name. Get creative with your Spacehey layouts.
Using Neocities, just about anyone can make their own site. W3Schools is a great source if you need HTML/CSS help, and there are plenty of other websites that provide tutorials or even pre-made layouts ready for you to use.
Check out some cool sites, sites you wouldn't normally find on Instagram or Twitter or any new social media. Look for some websites dedicated to spreading unusual and plain cool sites. Here are some to get you started.
